If leaving a beloved pet at home is simply not an option for you, you'll find that several hotels do allow pets. Most only allow pets in certain rooms, so make sure you mention you'll be bringing your four-legged family member when you make reservations.
Summer in Nags Head is really, really busy, so definitely make reservations in advance of your visit.

And, remember that N.C. Highway 12 is what is locally called the Beach Road and U.S. Highway 158 is locally referred to as the Bypass. We use these local names when locating these properties for you – they're just easier to remember! These accommodations are listed from north to south.

The Nags Head Beach Inn is located in a restored, historic Nags Head
building. Originally called the Nags Head Beach Club, the building was
popular in the 1930s as a pavilion-style dance hall. Originally an annex to
the Nags Header Hotel (one of the original hotels on the Outer Banks), the
entire building was moved north to E. Admiral Street in the 1970s. Today,
the inn has eight guest rooms all located just 125 yards from the beach.
There are two room styles available: The first includes a full-size bed and
private bathroom with a stand-up shower, and the second is a larger room
with a queen-sized bed, sitting area and private bathroom with a Jacuzzi
tub. The innkeepers serve a continental breakfast every morning. They have
bikes, beach chairs and body boards available for guest use as well as an
outdoor shower. The inn is non-smoking.

There are plenty of hotel and motel accommodations available in Kill Devil Hills, ranging from large, national chain hotels, family-owned motels and one bed and breakfast. Most places to stay are right on the oceanfront or just across the beach road, so you'll always be close to the ocean. You'll find that most hotels and motels have swimming pools, and some have other outdoor amenities like playgrounds, fish cleaning stations and grills. Many places have a full register of customers who return year after year, so it's always a good idea to reserve rooms in advance during the busy summer season and around holidays. If you're more of the camping sort, Kill Devil Hills offers one soundside campground.

There's a variety of accommodations available in Kitty Hawk, from secluded soundside B&Bs to a brand new oceanfront Hilton hotel. In between, there are several beachy motels just steps from the ocean, a campground and an RV park. Remember, N.C. Highway 12 is what is locally called the Beach Road and U.S. Highway 158 is locally referred to as the Bypass. We use these local names -- they're just easier to remember! This bed and breakfast has four guest rooms, with queen, king and twin beds. Each room has its own private bath and cable TV. Beach chairs, towels and bikes are available for guests. Children younger than 18 are not allowed.

The owners of this B&B are longtime residents of the Outer Banks.

Located just across the street from the beach, the Sea Kove Motel offers efficiencies and cottages. They have an outdoor pool, playground and fish cleaning station available for guest use. Beach Haven Motel emphasizes quality over quantity. They have five guest rooms that are located just across the street from the beach on an attractively landscaped lot. Their mini-efficiency rooms include a refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker. Choose from either their economy rooms, which accommodate two people, or their deluxe rooms, which accommodate four. Each room includes a deck. A guest picnic area is available with a gas grill and picnic table. Low-cost rentals are available for beach supplies like chairs, umbrellas and boogie boards. The Motel is entirely non-smoking. The Beach Haven is closed from mid-October to mid-May.

For your convenience, there are guest laundry facilities and a fish cleaning station. Best of all, the beach is directly across the street. The Buccaneer is open year round. Pets are not allowed.
