Driving down Colington Road offers a glimpse into Outer Banks life that you may not see if you stick to The Bypass and Beach roads. Colington is the curviest road around and one of the prettiest, as it leads you to and along Colington Island. As you drive, you'll pass the Wright Memorial and a small airport, cross over two bridges and wind around a picturesque church. They also have a great deli and grill with good, homemade food. The deli stocks Boar's Head meats and cheeses, and they prepare excellent Italian subs, cheesesteaks, chicken salad, breakfast biscuits and hand-patted burgers. They even have homemade desserts. Charlene's is the perfect place to fill up a picnic basket.
