Shopping - Kitty Hawk

Shopping in Kitty Hawk is an experience, not just something to do on a rainy day. Everyone can find something special with the choices of locally owned and interesting shops in town. Whether you’re looking for homemade dog biscuits, local artwork, funky clothing and accessories, beach souvenirs or fishing tackle, you can find it all within Kitty Hawk. Note that, as you enter the Outer Banks from the north over the bridge from Currituck, all the shops on the right-hand side of the road (the side with the Home Depot) are in Kitty Hawk, while those on the left are in Southern Shores. Remember that locals call Croatan Highway—aka U.S. Highway 158—The Bypass, and they refer to Virginia Dare Trail—aka N.C. Highway 12—as the Beach Road. Those simple names are just easier to remember!

Outer Banks Hotline is the local women’s shelter and crisis intervention/prevention center, and the Thrift Shop is one of the ways it raises money. The Kitty Hawk location (there are seven throughout the region) is easy to find — a bright pink building on the Bypass. If you love hunting through thrift stores, you’ll go crazy for this one. You’ll find clothes, furniture, books, records, house wares and a lot more.
