Lilly’s Closet is one of the only clothing stores on the beach devoted exclusively to children. They have children’s clothing and swimwear in sizes from newborns up to size seven and carry clothing for all occasions, from dress to play. Lilly’s Closet also has unique wooden toys, many of which are made in the U.S.A., plus books, plush animals, rain gear and more. Their new line of super-soft organic onesies for baby are very cute and eco-friendly. This Gallery Row shop offers a mix of attractive and reasonably priced jewelry made from semi-precious stones and silver, including creative wire-wrapped and broken china jewelry made by a local artist. The owner, Chris, travels to find small companies and individual artists to represent in the shop, so you’ll find items here that you won’t likely see elsewhere. She features more than 200 artists in the shop, and it’s filled with unusual finds such as whimsical garden figurines, wind chimes, typewriter key earrings, Twilight series and recycled button jewelry, dog treats and retro candy.

But we’ll give it a go: You’ll find vintage furniture, relics from the ‘70s and ‘80s, vintage clothing, records and art supplies plus locally made jewelry, soap, candles and art. Located at the southernmost end of Bodie Island (south of Nags Head), the Oregon Inlet Fishing Center store is filled with apparel, recreational gear and food such as hot dogs, barbecue sandwiches, snacks, drinks and candy. Shop here for souvenir hats and T-shirts plus fishing rods, bait, tackle, beer, books, sundries, ice and more. Numerous offshore boats are docked here and it is a treat is to visit around 4 p.m. to watch these vessels come in and unload their deep-sea catches of the day. The Fishing Center books offshore, near-shore and inshore fishing trips as well as head boat trips on the Miss Oregon Inlet.
