There’s something for all at this seven-story inn. Enjoy both ocean and sound views. The higher you go the better the view! Basic rooms feature two double beds or a king. Oceanfront rooms have private balconies. All rooms include cable TV, phone, clock radio, microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker, hair dryer and an ironing board, and all have high-speed, wireless internet access. Non-smoking rooms are offered. One wheelchair-accessible room is available. There is also one presidential suite, and Jacuzzi rooms are offered. An oceanfront pool with deck is a popular draw, and a complimentary continental breakfast is included. Other offerings include a small fitness center and coin-operated laundry machines. There are a few pet-friendly rooms. Conference rooms can accommodate up to 300 people. The Comfort Inn is open year round.

The Cypress House was built in the 1940s as a hunting and fishing lodge, and the interior features cypress tongue and groove paneled walls and ceilings. It is located just across the Beach Road from the ocean with a beach access right out the front door. Six guest rooms are available with private shower baths, ceiling fans, a micro-fridge, cable TV and wireless internet. Bikes, beach chairs and beach towels are available for guests. Each morning you’ll awake to the smell of freshly brewed coffee, which is available before breakfast for early risers, and the innkeepers serve a delightful full breakfast. The Cypress House has a common living room with a fireplace and a large wrap-around porch and is also available for weddings, teas or other special occasions.

Cypress Moon is located on the sound and offers three waterfront guest rooms. Each one has a private bath and is furnished with antiques, satellite TV, stereo and refrigerator. A fresh, hot breakfast is served each morning. Bikes and kayaks are available for exploring. The inn is a non-smoking establishment. It is not suitable for young children. The owners, and your hosts, Greg and Linda Hamby, have been residents of the Outer Banks for more than 35 years.

This attractive oceanfront venue features balconies or patios and many rooms with scenic views. Rooms have double or queen beds (one king is available), sitting areas, flat-screen tvs, coffee makers, microwaves and refrigerators, with a few featuring kitchenettes. This campground is located on the soundside of Kill Devil Hills on the way to Little Colington Island. There are 20 campsites, restrooms with hot water and a boat ramp. Pets are allowed, but they must be on a leash.
Kitty Hawk RV Park

This park offers more than 20 transient sites with oceanfront access and with 30 and 50 AMP service. Tents and pop-up campers are not allowed. The sites feature full hook-up: water, sewer, electrical and cable TV. Pets are permitted and reservations are encouraged.

If you’re looking for a quiet, simple place for your vacation, this is just the place! Located across the beach road from the oceanfront and a beach access, these three newly renovated two-bedroom cottage condos feature private hot tubs on each deck, queen-sized beds in the bedrooms, a living room with sleep sofa, kitchen with microwave and dishwasher, cable TV, computers and WiFi, outside grill and showers and sun decks. Here you’ll have direct ocean access and be within walking distance of shops, restaurants and activities. Owner Butch Stone also has two oceanfront rental cottages in Kitty Hawk, “Lillian B” and “Pipers Dream”. All his rentals are non-smoking and pet-friendly!

The Nags Head Beach Inn is located in a restored, historic Nags Head building. Originally called the Nags Head Beach Club, the building was popular in the 1930s as a pavilion-style dance hall. Originally an annex to the Nags Header Hotel (one of the original hotels on the Outer Banks), the entire building was moved north to E. Admiral Street in the 1970s. Today, the inn has eight guest rooms all located just 125 yards from the beach. There are two room styles available: The first includes a full-size bed and private bathroom with a stand-up shower, and the second is a larger room with a queen-sized bed, sitting area and private bathroom with a Jacuzzi tub. The innkeepers serve a continental breakfast every morning. They have bikes, beach chairs and body boards available for guest use as well as an outdoor shower. The inn is non-smoking.

No phones are available in the units, so you get to come here and honestly unplug! Pets are not allowed, and there is no pool on location, but you don’t necessarily need one with Mother Ocean just steps away. This is a reasonably priced option. Families or fishermen on a budget will appreciate the simple accommodations and the great oceanfront location. The Ocean Side Court is open March through December 1.

Outer Banks Motor Lodge is an oceanfront establishment offering rooms and efficiencies. Efficiencies include a full kitchen with pots, pans and utensils. All rooms include a mini fridge, microwave and coffee maker. Guests in oceanfront rooms on the first floor can walk right onto the beach, and guests on the second floor enjoy an oceanfront deck. The grounds include a seasonal outdoor pool, kid’s playground and picnic area. Guests have access to a fish cleaning area, charcoal grills and coin-operated laundry machines. No pets are allowed. Outer Banks Motor Lodge is open from March to December.
Pelican Cottages

Built in the 1950s, Pelican Cottages consist of one three-bedroom and two two-bedroom oceanfront cottages. These white-shingled bungalows feature queen and bunk beds, full kitchens, microwaves, cable TV with DVD players and porches with rockers and grills for cook-outs. They also offer enclosed outdoor showers that are a great pleasure after a day at the beach, but don’t worry, they have lovely full bathrooms inside too if that’s just not your thing. Their location near the Nags Head Fishing Pier and good local restaurants is ideal. You can also enjoy indoor and outdoor pool access as well as full membership benefits at the local YMCA (see Recreation), which includes access to the gym, yoga and fitness classes and child care. Pelican Cottages is a pet-friendly location.

A free continental breakfast is offered each morning from 7a.m. to 10 a.m. Rooms on the second and third floors have ocean views from the common balcony. Enjoy the convenience of an outdoor pool and on-site fish cleaning station. They are right across the street from the Nags Head beaches and the new Jennette’s Pier and located near two local favorite restaurants, Sam & Omie’s and Owens’. The Tanger Outlet Mall is across the highway, and great local grocery and fast food restaurants are all nearby. Pets are welcomed.

Built in the 1950s, this is one of the treasured old-school beach motels. Saltaire is great for families and has watched generations of them return each year. They have an in-ground pool that’s also right across from the beach. Accommodations include 10 two-bedroom apartments and two three-bedroom cottages. Plus, they offer one-bedroom apartments in the off-season. The cottages have cable TV with VCRs, heat/air-conditioning and telephones. All apartments have cable TV with VCRs, heat/air conditioning, telephones, full kitchens and private screened porches. In fact, the screened porches are one of their most enjoyable features.
Sandspur Motel & Cottage Court

Located on the oceanfront, the Sandspur has been family owned and operated since 1970. Guests choose from rooms, efficiency or cottage accommodations, with rooms featuring queen beds, cable TV, microwaves and refrigerators. Efficiencies have full kitchens. The cottages are two-, three- and four-bedroom little houses. Daily maid service is provided in rooms and efficiencies. They have an outdoor pool, playground and walkway to the beach. Built in 1948, this oceanfront motel was recently approved for the National Register of Historic Places. They have a great location, allowing easy access to the beach and to the town of Nags Head. Sea Foam offers oceanfront rooms and efficiencies. They also have cottages and a deluxe apartment. All cottages and efficiencies come completely furnished and have refrigerators, stoves and microwaves. All units and rooms have cable TV with HBO, air conditioning, phones, refrigerators and microwaves. Rooms above the first floor have private balconies. Other offerings include free WiFi access, a heated pool, shuffleboard court and a children’s play area. Pets are not allowed. The Sea Foam is open March to mid-December.
