Hotels—Kill Devil Hills

You’ll find plenty of Kill Devil Hills hotel and motel options, ranging from large, national chain hotels, family-owned motels and several bed and breakfast inns. There are more chain in the list of Kill Devil Hills hotels than in any other Outer Banks town, and they provide dependable and expected high-end service. Pleasingly, many of the non-chain properties are ones that have been serving Outer Banks hotel visitors for decades and have regularly upgraded and renovated to keep their guests happy. Most of the places to stay are right on the oceanfront or just across the beach road, so you’ll always be close to the ocean. You’ll find that most Kill Devil Hills hotels and motels have wireless internet access, cable TV and swimming pools, and some have other outdoor amenities like playgrounds, fish cleaning stations and grills. Many places have a full register of customers who return year after year, so it’s always a good idea to reserve rooms in advance during the busy summer season and around holidays. There are many pet-friendly Kill Devil Hills hotels, but most only allow pets in certain rooms, so make sure you mention you’ll be bringing your four-legged family member when you make reservations. More of the camping sort? Joe and Kay’s Kill Devil Hills campground is still welcoming guests to its soundside location.

For visitors who’ve been here before, you’ll know that this Outer Banks town is smack dab in the middle of everything, so from any of these accommodations, you’ll be close to Kill Devil Hills attractions and Kill Devil Hills recreation. The town itself is known for its plethora of restaurants, shops and nightlife…needless to say, if you seek it, you’ll probably find it here.

Coming for a longer stay of a week or more? You might want to check out the many Outer Banks vacation rental companies that represent literally thousands of rental homes in Kill Devil Hills and beyond. Options run from smaller beach cottages to mega-mansions, so just ask the vacation rental company agent to help you find the one that’s right for you. See our section on Vacation Rentals for all the details.

Remember that locals call Croatan Highway—aka U.S. Highway 158—The Bypass, and they refer to Virginia Dare Trail—aka N.C. Highway 12—as the Beach Road. Those simple names are just easier to remember!
