This vintage, family-owned grocery store offers fresh meats, a great selection of fine wines and a variety of groceries. They have gourmet cheeses and pates, homegrown vegetables, herbs, spices, sauces and marinades. Cahoon’s offers great homemade sandwich fixings (tuna salad, chicken salad, pimento cheese) that are easy to pick up on your way to the beach, along with all the chips, beer, sodas and snacks you could possibly need. While you’re here, pick up fishing tackle and souvenirs. They really have it all! It’s located next to Jennette’s Pier.

Carawan Seafood is family-owned and operated and has been supplying fresh seafood to Outer Banks locals and visitors for more than 30 years. Central Garden Center is a family-owned and operated business that has been serving the beach for more than 40 years. They offer plants for all seasons and are very knowledgeable about those that are best suited to the harsh beach environment. They also offer landscaping services. You’ll find beach grasses, annuals and perennials here as well as tropical plants and herbs.

Chip’s Wine and Beer Market has the largest wine and beer selection on the Outer Banks — all offered at discount prices. Chip’s is known as the snob-free zone because you won’t hear any silly, snooty wine terms here, just friendly advice if you need assistance with your selection. With more than 2,000 wines from every growing region, you’ll appreciate the helpful information! The Great Wall of Beer has more than 500 different brews to choose from, including a large Belgian section. Don’t stress over selecting just one because you can build your own six-pack here. If you’re planning a special event like a wedding or rehearsal dinner, they can help you find great beverage options within your budget. Then they can help you determine the quantities you’ll need. Chip’s also has a great selection of interesting gifts like their own first-press, cold-pressed olive oil in beautiful bottles that can be refilled at the store, picnic baskets and sake sets. Chip’s recently opened its tasting lounge with a wine station that lets you try wines by the taste, the ½ glass or full glass at your leisure. In addition to beverages, they now sell gourmet cheeses. They also offer in-store activities, tastings and classes and now have WiFi available to customers.
